I am rooted in music but expanded into the realms of creative technology and visual art. In music, I have produced an audio-visual event series called ‘Noise Report’, was selected for Year 1 of Brownswood Recordings’ Future Bubblers talent development programme, received radio play on BBC Radio 3’s Late Junction show for self-release ‘Intergalactic Bar Jukebox’, and helped run Fairshare Unity Soundsystem.In hindsight, my interest in Creative Technology began forming through experiencing tech-driven installations at events such as CTM festival in Berlin & Manchester Science Festival, as well as through curating installations for audio/visual events in London from 2015 onwards. This interest materialised into active learning and practising of Creative Technology throughout my study of Information & Interface Design BA at LCC, and continued after graduating.In the first unit of the first year, I developed an interactive physical object using Arduino, EL wire and the El Escudo Dos shield, which aimed to explain the underlying physics behind atomic clocks. This taught me the basics of Arduino programming and how to implement mathematical operations like modulo to achieve the intended function. I also learned about JST connections as I needed to change the connectors on the EL wire to work with the shield, as well as learning how to solder components together and design housing/structures for physical computing projects. Overall this first project got me hooked on physical computing and Creative Computing generally, and throughout the rest of the course I continued to learn and utilise code in my projects. After learning HTML & CSS fundamentals, I created a series of websites composed of cut-out parts of images, to form websites that were essentially animated digital collages. I was interested in exploring the intersection between real world architecture and web page layouts, and experimenting with the creative potential of HTML & CSS animation. The furthest development in this direction is a web page displaying an animated Elephant & Castle shopping centre, paying homage to its architecture, traders & community. Beyond this, NASA's NeoWs API became a focus, resulting in the Asteroid clock, and continuing to investigate asteroid data in the form of visual documents, to generate public engagement with space data. These projects furthered my coding & design ability across Vanilla JavaScript, p5.js, Node.js, Arduino programming, Raspberry Pi and the Adobe CC suite. I also learned After Effects and thoroughly enjoy creating animation/video content.
