Registered Medical Assistant

Charleston, South Carolina, United States

This course was designed to teach medical terminology, clinical patient skills and administrative office skills necessary to become a Registered Medical Assistant (RMA). It prepared me to enter the healthcare workforce by providing education and hands-on training. I learned phlebotomy, how to perform EKGs, administer injections and drugs, and take health histories. I was also trained in staging patients in preparation to see providers, update patient medication history, perform related tasks as directed by practice providers, assist with other clinical and clerical duties to ensure optimization of patient experience at the practice. The material presented within the program was vital to my success as an RMA. This was a rapidly paced course, requiring much reading, weekly assignments and tests, individual and group tasks, and a tight schedule to stay on top.
