I am currently the construction project manager for a project that involves selling, installing, programming, and maintaining fire station alerting equipment in almost all Broward county fire stations (roughly 95 out of 115). I visit with customers and explain what the equipment does and what I think would most benefit the stations needs based on what the customers (Fire Chiefs, District Chiefs, Communications managers, etc) tell me after some conversation about station specifics. I then work with the equipment manufacturers to get designs made and quoted. Once approved, I purchase the equipment and any others parts/accessories needed, I get the job permitted, as well as maintain weekly status reports with the county. I make sure the crew on-site know what they're installing, get the equipment to them, program the station to the customer's likes/needs, and troubleshoot when I have equipment issues or station failures. I'm also the 24/7-365 on-call technician to troubleshoot outages or equipment failures. I maintain spreadsheets documenting contingency dollars, serial number information, project status, information shared with the county, and much more. Everything I learned, I learned by trial and error or in the field.
