Chief solicitor and architect for overall fundraising strategy and tactics for the Media Research Center, including NewsBusters, CNS News, MRC Business, MRC Culture, MRC Latino, MRCtv, MRCAction and MRC Tech Watch. Responsible for hiring, mentoring and directing 13 subordinates, overseeing a department budget of $2.5 million and raising $11 million annually, through a comprehensive development program that includes a large direct response program, a nationwide, regional major gift operation, grant writing, online fundraising, major donor retreats and planned giving. Key Achievements:• Developed a multi-year strategic plan to reorganize development staffing and focus, hired an AVP to manage daily fundraising operations, implemented a moves management program, re-organized direct response program to focus on mid-level donors to create an effective major gift pipeline for MRC’s 50,000 active direct response donors, transitioned to a region-based major gift model (3 new major gift officers) and implemented a new top donor relationship engagement program.• Directed high profile donor events, including MRC’s 30th Anniversary Gala in 2017 with more than 900 in attendance, and three annual leadership retreats for MRC’s principal donors;• Personally prospected, cultivated and solicited a portfolio of top major gift donors to secure $3 million-plus annually;• Generated 11% year over year growth in major gifts from 2017 to 2018, and 16% from 2018 to 2019.• Secured individual gift commitments of $1.5 million, $1.6 million and $6 million.

Austin, Texas Area

In a part-time, contractual role, I was responsible for reinvigorating the fundraising operations at TPPF, which had plateaued. We restructured the development office and hired two new staff positions bringing the department to seven. For the first time in several years, we surpassed the annual fundraising goal, raising 105% of goal and a record level of support at $6.1 million in 2014. In addition, we raised an additional $7.7 million towards a $22.5 million capital campaign for TPPF's new headquarters in downtown Austin.The Texas Public Policy Foundation is a non-partisan research institute and is the largest state based free-market think tank in the United States. A Christian nonprofit in Indiana providing residential care, foster care, home-based services, emergency shelter care, transitional living and adoption services to abused, neglected and troubled children and families. A Christian childcare agency in the state of Georgia providing residential care, shelter care, group homes, independent living, and substance abuse treatment to abused, neglected, and troubled children.
