Digital design engineer, specialising in the full development life cycle, from design conception, through to post manufacture.Expertise in:• Digital embedded system design, specialism in cost effective audio and video circuits (FPGA/EPLD, DDR2/3, microprocessors – including ARM cortex series, DC/DC convertors/Power management, PCIe, PCI, VME, Telephony, UART, I2C, SPI, Gbit Ethernet, USB 2.0/3.0, SATA, RF, HDMI, wireless, JTAG and EMC/CE conformance).• High speed PCB design and signal integrity techniques including : SERDES, DDR2/3, Ethernet and inter-processor communications. • SoC design flow (liaising in floor planning, signal/supply integrity issues at substrate & PCB levels and ballout definitions)• Debugging the complete hardware system including simultaneous silicon and board ‘bring up’• EDA Tools including: Altera Quartus, ModelSim, Mentor Graphics PCB and Orcad/Allegro.• Liaising with international subcontractors during the consultation, specification, design, validation and manufacturing phases. • Writing embedded test software and firmware in C and VHDL• Scripting (csh/tcl/perl/Python)• Project and team management across multiple international sites.• Version Control and Bug Tracking (CVS/Clearquest)• Project planning, delivering within budget and time constraints• Presentation skills.• Self-motivated, versatile and thriving on a steep learning curve.
