About Christopher Peske
Mr. Peske began his professional career as an archaeologist in 2011 as an archaeological technician for Pacific Legacy in California. From 2011 to 2015, he continued working as a technician in California for Pacific Legacy as well as for Far Western Anthropological Research Group and URS Corporation. During this time, Mr. Peske developed skills in archaeological survey, site recording, and excavation. In 2012, Mr. Peske participated in an internship at the American Museum of Natural History in New York where he obtained additional excavation experience on St. Catherines Island in Georgia and improved his museum curation skillset that he had developed as a museum intern at the UC Davis Museum of Anthropology. Mr. Peske worked as a seasonal archaeologist for the Bureau of Land Management in Boise, Idaho before returning to Pacific Legacy as a full-time supervisor in 2015. Mr. Peske has particular interest in technological approaches to archaeology, including 3D visualization, GIS analysis, and remote sensing. Over the course of his career, he was gained expertise in ESRI products including ArcMap, ArcGIS Online, and ArcGIS Pro. In the field, Mr. Peske has experience using Trimble XT, 7x and R1 GNSS receivers and Leica Geosystems total stations/3D scanners. In 2018, Mr. Peske designed a data dictionary for field recording for Pacific Legacy and is aiding in the company’s transition to using Trimble R1 receivers and ArcGIS field recording software. Mr. Peske currently serves as a Senior Archaeologist with Caltrans, District 4.
