Works as a member of an interdisciplinary team, under the direction and supervision of a registered nurse to help provide patient-centered, trauma-informed care and maintain a therapeutic milieu. Assists registered nurse with delegated task such as taking vital signs which includes: blood pressure, heart rate, respiratory rate, and temperature. May also include recording calorie counts and obtaining heights/weights. Plans and leads therapeutic groups for small groups of patients that are relevant to their treatment goals, mindful of age, and developmental level. Works alongside Behavioral Support Specialists to implement Behavioral Support Plans on a case-by-case basis to support our patients in learning appropriate skills and behaviors. Helps maintain a clean and safe milieu by participating in cleaning tasks as well as utilizing therapeutic techniques to support patients in crisis. Communicates completely and clearly as well as documents data collected and care provided to patients. Helps in the orientation and training of new Mental Health Specialists. Maintains safety in crisis situations by implementing Therapeutic Crisis Intervention.

As a barista, I worked in a fast-paced environment as an integral member of a team. I was responsible for ensuring beverages are made to our quality standards as well as the customers liking in a timely manner. As well as, helping to maintain a positive, friendly, and clean environment for both coworkers and our customers.

As a unit counselor, I spent 8 weeks of my summer with girls ages 5-17 working through programing focused on their interests.
