As a Specialist with the Talent Solutions Team at MEDC, I support our higher education partners in a variety of programs that are being implemented to fill the tech talent pipeline for rapidly expanding key industries in Michigan (EV and Mobility, Semiconductor, Life Sciences, Advanced Manufacturing, Clean Energy). Through Talent Action Teams focused on specific industry verticals, we work closely with key employers to understand the skills required and types of positions that need to be filled. We then collaborate with higher education, career and technical organizations, and industry associations, to develop and implement best-in-class solutions to meet the workforce needs of the industry for the next decade and beyond.Some of these programs include grant funding for the development of education programs for the PK-12 school systems, scholarship programs for students earning tech degrees in some of our 4-year degree institutions, and programs to upskill workers in the current workforce to be ready for the technology changes with the transition to electric vehicle, autonomous and other new mobility advancements. Our goal is to ensure that Michigan is the best choices for growing an innovative tech business, and the best place for developing your tech career.
