Crystal Baldwin, M.Ed. is a nationally awarded consumer protection expert with over 20 years in public service. She is a skilled educator, who applies a cross-disciplinary approach to developing action-oriented strategic communications, education and outreach programs, and aligns goals with execution strategies.She holds multiple community service and career achievement awards and is the 2022 recipient of the National Association of Attorneys General Career Staff Person of the Year Award, recognized nationally for exemplary expertise and achievement. Crystal has more than 25 years of multifaceted professional experience. With a decade and a half of scam prevention advocacy, she coalesced the stopping scams together initiative, bringing together communities and agency partners to address scams. Crystal is the founder, editor and publisher of the CAP Connection blog and manager of the VT Scam Alert System. She is a proponent of learning and teaches at the University of Vermont, leading courses in consumer protection and escalation prevention. A practiced interdisciplinarian, she applies thoughtful integrative approaches to solve complex problems. She created the SLOW Method, which provides users a simple streamlined strategy to address potential scams and developed a specialized Scam Fighter training, improving how we work to stop scams together. She is furthering this work in collaboration with state and federal partners.Her first professional role was as a development gift officer of Berea College, an institution of higher education invested in educating scholars of low-income for free. She is a proud and engaged alumna. As a live-long learner, she enjoys the versatility in her roles and taking on new challenges.
