“Alone, we can do so little; together, we can do so much”- Helen KellerMy aspirations to work with the community started with an admiration for our first responders.Ever since then I knew that community resilience was where I wanted to be. Currently, my goal is to work in disaster response and long-term recovery while focusing on those who are considered socially vulnerable. These groups could include those with disabilities, single parents, low socioeconomic areas, and many others who may need more aid in times of disaster. I aim to bring together disaster science and humanitarian studies to help the community build to be stronger together. Working with my community is one of the most rewarding jobs and something I cannot wait to continue doing. I look forward to starting conversations about forgotten communities and those in need.
