Chris has worked in the substance use field for over two decades. He has experience in outpatient, residential settings, specialty courts, and MAT programs. Chris was the grant director for the drug overdose prevention program at the Human Service Center in Peoria, Illinois prior to becoming the Executive Director at Jolt Harm Reduction. Chris has also has experience doing city-wide outreach to people who are unsheltered, and HIV/Hep C testing. At JOLT Chris coordinates and leads programs that provide clean injection, snorting and smoking supplies, and overdose prevention. Chris speaks nationally on such topics as Harm Reduction, Trauma Informed Care, Overdose Prevention, Homelessness and Mental Health. Chris provides supplemental and adjunct teaching on issues related to public health and marginalized people groups in medical, nursing, and social work schools, training the next cohorts of service providers in harm reduction principles and humanistic care models.Chris recently was awarded the Sam Belfer Award from the ACLU, Peoria Chapter. Chris’s passions are working toward social equity in health care, advocating for criminal justice reform, becoming a new empty nester, the Chicago Cubs, and his dog Bella.
