Since high school I was interested in biology and questioned the fundamentals of those day´s knowledge. After finishing my studies, I started to combine entrepreneurship and biotech.I completed two studies at the university of Vienna (Molecular Genetic & Medicine) and founded a first spin off, VBC-Genomics, with two biotech professors in 1999. The successful selling of this first company to an international player ten years later, built the basis for further investments. Genosense and VBC-Biotech have been smaller Companies in the 2000s where I was involved in, which increased my interest in the mechanisms within economy and biotech. As CEO of the sequencing and oligonucleotide service provider, VBC-Biotech, at the Vienna Biotech Campus, I structured the acquisition of VBC-Biotech for Eurofins in 2011.Parallel, in 2009 Dr. Martin Huber and myself founded Quantapore Inc., a California based biotech company with the ambition to become a game changer in DNA sequencing and next generation proteomics.2016, together with Dr. Christian Harwanegg, who was a peer during the early days of VBC-Genomics, we founded Macroarray Diagnostics (MADx), a novel multiplex allergy testing platform.During recent additional studies at the University of Nicosia, MSc in Digital currencies, I am developing complementary skills in blockchain technology, which in combination with Biotech, big data and AI will transform our future to an extent, hardly anybody can oversee yet.
