I am an artist, photographer, creative consultant and blogger who also mentors others long distance and occasionally in person. Living in China during the mid-90s, I explored my interests in film photography. After returning to Southwest Florida in 1995, I resurrected artistic interests from childhood and began painting in acrylic; then as I began to dabble in the medium, I grew increasingly frustrated and put those pursuits aside and engaged in other artistic crafts as a means of self-expression while I raised and home-schooled my children. In 2009, longstanding questions and frustrations with acrylics were solved when I stumbled upon a PBS series by artist and teacher Jerry (Joseph) Yarnell, and so began to develop skills in acrylic painting in earnest. About the same time, I began working in watercolors after seeing fear-free lessons from Frank Clarke and Terry Madden. In 2014, when I was unable to get any studio time with traditional media, I began learning to paint digitally; it was a natural evolution from my digital photography experiences in New York City where I was living at the time. I've continued to develop my interests over the years, pursuing language acquisition, deepening my understanding of history and honing my artistic skills and talents. I've also been given several opportunities to advise others in how to more creatively express themselves, not just in doing their own art, but through their living and work spaces. It's safe to say that doing art really did change how my life is expressed and I'm grateful for the many opportunities I've been given to grow through it and that has furthered my primary goal which is helping others thrive in every area of life.
