I am an Independent Consultant specializing in nomadic networks and professional services in the technical trade show, event, and E-sports sector. I developed automated systems for configuration and deployment of network gear. I developed techniques for rapid deployment of monitoring, log analysis, and alerting for the temporary networks. I specialize in integrating temporary networks into existing infrastructure without disruptions. I’m responsible for switching, routing, firewall, and wireless configurations for the show producer’s custom requirements. I also serve as the liaison to the show production crews and manage the network techs. The size of temporary networks varies from a few pieces of gear to several hundred pieces of gear spanning multiple venues. Shows have included events by Microsoft, Tableau, LinkedIn, and Valve. Because of the dynamic nature of this work, I have experience with a wide variety of vendors and gear. I have worked on Fortinet, Cisco IOS, Cisco ASA, Aruba/HP, H3C/HP, Juniper, Opengear, Lantronix, Extreme, Xirrus, Vyatta, Ubiquiti, Mikrotik, and Enterasys. I also have experience with multiple Radius implementations, packetfence, LDAP, AD, DNSSEC, LibreNMS, the Dude, OpenNMS, ELK, Graylog, Elasticflow. I have also written custom systems to audit and map wired multivendor networks as well as a system to audit and test wireless networks.

I implemented a multi-vendor geographically diverse hybrid cloud with a heavy emphasis on Kubernetes. I designed and implemented the CI/CD system driving the company product implementation in the hybrid cloud using Jenkins, bitbucket, Docker, Kubernetes. I ran an onsite Kubernetes cluster based on Canonical’s charmed Kubernetes on top of an Ovirt cluster. Offsite I used the Google products: Compute Engine, App Engine, Cloud Storage, Persistent Disk, Bigtable, Cloud SQL, Cloud Armor, Load Balancing, Cloud VPN, VPC, Cloud Logging, Cloud Monitoring, Cloud SDK, Container Registry, BigQuery, Data Studio, Endpoints, and IAM. I wrote and implemented google cloud functions to support parts of the cloud product. I wrote and implemented a real-time telemetry network for tracking drone information and location. I designed a highly efficient and very lightweight protocol for reporting telemetry. I modified the firmware on consumer drones to transmit the real-time telemetry. Other responsibilities included day to day maintenance of systems and network infrastructure.

Owner and senior engineer. The company specialized in nomadic networks. Used VSAT ground station for connectivity in locations with no internet. In addition, it provided professional services for major name brand technology clients in the trade show and event sector. Specialized in large scale events measuring the 10s to 100s of thousands oftentimes spanning multiple physical venues.

Developed a platform in Java and Python to integrate Bluetooth barcode scanners with a cloud-based Glassfish Enterprise Service Bus as part of a cloud-based tradeshow registration system.

I re-engineered routing in the core of the network for greater stability and redundancy.Also provided professional services to major customers to help configure their routers for fail-over. Configured and installed equipment in a new co-location facility

I was the technical director of an advanced network testing lab that was acooperative project between Spirent Communications and the University of Georgia. While in the position I provided advanced network engineering resource for the setup and operation of tests performed in the lab

I designed and implemented a multi-location network involving 1000 users in 30+ locations spread around northeast Georgia. I was responsible for both the network design and the servers/infrastructure systems design and implementation.
