 Responsibilities for network surveillance, maintenance, and fault resolution directing the technical work for the Verizon local transport network in the (DC/MD/VA) Potomac region. This includes the technologies of SONET, DWDM, ROADM, Digital Cross Connects and Asynchronous network equipment.  Responsibilities for network surveillance, maintenance, and fault resolution for customer dedicated rings in the Mid-Atlantic and Northeast Verizon regions. Technologies SONET/DWDM and ROADM networks for large customer accounts that required daily communication with Verizon account teams or the customer contacts for the account.  Responsibilities for network surveillance, maintenance, and fault resolution for the Medium Haul FIOS network in the Mid-Atlantic and Northeast regions for SONET & ROADM technologies.

 Supervise union associates in the transport control center to address all individual and team needs, or administrative problems as needed.  Responsibilities for monitoring associate performance and provide guidance and coaching to help improve their knowledge on job functions and daily job responsibilities. Provide technical training for all technicians by shift and my direct reports as part of their development plan for the year. Work directly with technicians on cross-training that improved scheduling in the center allowing management to be more flexibility when scheduling daily/weekly work assignments. Focus on employee recognition and milestone accomplishments.  Track outage events, simplex, communication alarms, and priority digital cross-connect system alarms on the network with priority to ensure high priority failures and alarms were acknowledged to resolve and prevent network service failures and help the center achieve metrics.  Communicate center and organization process changes to associates that improves center operations and helps meet objectives and metrics.

 Monitored and performed maintenance daily on the Verizon Business option one transport network throughout the US, identifying and clearing circuit, equipment failures and catastrophic network outages. Provided Tier 2 support to remote groups on T3 and GigE circuits on local Verizon Business option one and option two transport network.  Addressed carrier and customer circuit troubles reported on the local and long-distance transport networks. Communicate and work directly with customers on OCN tickets to provide timely detailed updates or assist with remote testing. This involved remote testing/fault isolation and repair on circuits from NYC to LA across multiple networks for MCI/WorldCom/Verizon Business.

 Provided customer service and assistance for Verizon customers. Monitored and completed trouble tickets through ETMS.  Work with customers and other exchange carriers on VZB local loops performing testing to isolate faults for DS0 and T1 services.  Reroute toll free numbers for customers by request or as needed.

 Surveillance and maintenance on the UUNET Global IP network for Gateway, Bridge, Transit, and EDN network devices for domestic, EMEA and Asia-Pac networks.  Monitor enhanced dial network rotary  Verify network configuration settings and make updates or corrections as needed.  Resolving network outages, hardware failures and daily maintenance on Cisco, Juniper routers and Network Switches, Lucent TNTs, and Lucent APX8100s.  Worked with multiple local exchange carriers including Verizon/SBC, Quest, and other carriers in Canada and overseas.

 Supported 9 buildings with over 5,000 employees caring for facility and assisting on site engineers as needed. Responsible to two offsite locations and Northern Virginia. This involved multiple teams for Verizon facility management/support including Verizon and security contractors.  Supervised multiple contractors performing job assignments in Verizon facilities that involved space modification or office equipment support and maintenance.  Supervised and organized planned moves and relocations throughout the Ashburn campus and multiple Northern Virginia and Washington DC locations.
