Curtis E. Callender is a Licensed Professional Counselor and Licensed Substance Abuse Counselor in St. Thomas, US Virgin Islands. He additionally holds a license in the State of Florida as a Licensed Mental Health Counselor & Qualified Supervisor for MHC interns. By nomination of the Governor and successful appointment by the Legislature, Mr. Callender serves on the VI Board of Licensed Counselors and Examiners, where he functions in the capacity of Secretary. He is passionate about working with at risk youth, issues related to human sexuality, working with couples, addictions, military personnel, and working with student/professional athletes on issues such as life-skills and post-career transitions. His experience also includes working with adolescent males and adult men on issues of manhood/ self-development and addressing topics such as impulse control, aggression, stress management, body image concerns, anxiety, depression, sexual health education, academic underachievement, and domestic violence. As a mental health professional who is also a personal trainer and self-professed “gym-lover,” Mr. Callender considers himself a Wellness Professional, resulting his treatment perspective highlighting the intersection of physical, mental and sexual health on one’s overall well-being.
