Profile bio

About Curtis Green

I have been fortunate enough to conduct research in several different environments, including academia and industry. Each experience has taught me a variety of skills which will prove invaluable in my future. In the Fall of 2013, I began to conduct research in Professor Lane Baker's lab at Indiana University. I had always been fascinated with chemistry and wanted to be at the forefront of theory and innovation. After nearly two and a half years of hard work, I was the second author on our publication in Analyst. I wrote my undergraduate thesis on this research, as well as presented a poster during the thesis poster presentation. I learned the value of perseverance: for only after endeavoring through months and a year or two of failures, we succeeded. The small successes which kept driving me forward eventually culminated into overall success. During the Summer of 2016, I conducted research with ANGUS Chemical Company in Buffalo Grove, IL. I worked on several different projects simultaneously, which taught me valuable time management skills. I also learned the value of proper record keeping after looking through old lab notebooks for method validation. Most importantly, working at ANGUS taught me how to work in a dynamic team setting, one in which I did not completely control the research being done.During the Summer of 2017, I conducted research at AbbVie Inc. as an intern in the analytical division of Drug Product Development. The most valuable skill I gained from my time at AbbVie was proper documentation, since I worked in a GMP environment. From 2017 to 2022, I attended graduate school and earned a PhD in Materials Chemistry, conducting research concerning how nanomaterials influence the environment and vice versa. Through my time at at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, I learned many valuable skills such as effective scientific communication, how to solve problems, and how to troubleshoot instruments.Since August 2022, I have been working as a Scientist in the Analytical Development group in the Life Science Services of MilliporeSigma. As a Scientist in a CTDMO, I have had the opportunity to learn myriad instrumentation, become familiar with drug product development, and mentor younger scientists along their journey.

Listed skills include Analytical Reasoning, Public Speaking, Microsoft Office, Collaborative Problem Solving, and 12 others.
