I worked under Dr. David Hu to perform tensile testing to analyze the stiffness patterns of wombat intestines to determine how wombats are able to produce cube-shaped feces.Implemented MATLAB computer vision object tracking using Kalman Filter to identify stretching of intestines under tensile load. Published in the journal Soft Matter, publication found at https://hu.gatech.edu/wp-content/uploads/2021/01/Hu21-wombat.pdf I also previously worked to create an electronic olfaction machine that mimics the behavior of the star-nosed mole. The goal of this machine is to make underwater machine olfaction possible.

I worked under Dr. David Hu to observe and quantify the fluid-like behavior of fire ant aggregations. I did this by tracking the movement of the ants using a MATLAB image processing algorithm.

I worked two co-op terms as a Design Engineer within Research and Development at Ethicon Endo-Surgery (part of J&J MedTech). (Fall 2019 and Summer 2020)In the first term, I worked for the New Product Development team within Ethicon’s Energy franchise. I worked primarily on front end development of an ultrasonic hand-piece used for phacoemulsification in cataract surgery. I devised testing and performed electrical data analysis to determine if adding a confidential new feature to the hand-piece would be feasible. I used statistics within Minitab including a Gage R&R, Type 1 Gage Study, DOE, and ANOVA to demonstrate the feasibility of adding this new feature. Ultimately, I recommended that the team continue to develop this technology. Additionally, I used SolidWorks to design testing fixtures and assembly fixtures used in production. I also developed a soiling and cleaning study and consulted with subject matter experts to create an extraction process that would be useful for identifying the effectiveness of our cleaning methods.In my second co-op term, I worked for the Robotics and Digital Solutions franchise, on Front End tools development. I leveraged my skills in programming and statistics to perform data analysis and develop algorithms for novel surgical tool features.
