Co-Owner
CurrentAt Seadub I lead a team of precision engineers who manufacture parts for the marine industry. Our specialist machinery and equipment enables short set up times meaning we produce one-offs or small batches as efficiently as large runs. Seadub will carry out work at short notice when required. We are experienced in a wide range of materials, including metals such as nitronic, duplex and titanium.Seadub will manufacture to your design and offer advice for manufacturing techniques as required. We will produce designs to your project brief and can model in 3D before manufacture. Our typical customers include Yacht Owners, Managers, Engineers and Captains, Project Managers and Rigging companies.
Captain/Engineer
The itinerary of this Spirit 100 as Captain/Engineer involved long and intense deliveries, yard periods and charters. I have managed multiple yard periods whilst carrying out in-depth, hands-on engineering. This included fully rebuilding two Yanmar engines and remodelling the deck of Gaia while significantly redesigning the interior of the tender.Mate/Engineer on this 100ft modern classic yacht and her tender was a demanding role. It was necessary to manage my time between working on deck and on the systems. A large amount of my time aboard was spent upgrading and refining the original systems including replacing the generator and the watermaker. The management of the 40ft tender, which was designed as a support vessel for Gaia (so she would remain light) was time consuming and required thought and planning, from fuel transfers to power generation and delivery. After I finished overseeing extensive modifications to Gaia I entered a busy season with a full itinerary of cruising and racing with the owner onboard.
‘Gipsy Moth Iv’ Skipper, Sailing & Maintenance Instructor
After gaining my Yachtmaster Ocean certificate I was employed by the same training school as permanent skipper and custodian of the famous ketch. This was a very varied and demanding role, our guests varied from the challenging ‘Ellen Macarthur Trust’ groups to private charter guests wanting a real sailing experience. Instructing aboard the 67ft challenge yachts was challenging yet ultimately rewarding. When not afloat I instructed a range of subjects in the classroom, including composite repairs, diesel engine maintenance, outboard maintenance and systems lectures.
