These services include housing, employment… Show more The Immigrant Services and Connections (ISAC) program is a five-agency partnership whose mission is to connect immigrants to existing services, strengthen Pittsburgh communities, and educate service providers about immigrants' needs and rights. As an ISAC Service Coordinator, I work with clients to develop a service plan with specific goals, provide education about U.S. culture and systems, and connect clients to appropriate services. These services include housing, employment, education, health care, transportation, legal assistance, and financial assistance. I work with a team of other service coordinators, navigators, and staff to develop a network of resources and to provide the most culturally appropriate services to clients. I supervise an AmeriCorps member who serves as a navigator for the ISAC program. From November 2017 to April 2019, I also instructed classes at Literacy Pittsburgh's Families for Learning Center in the South Hills of Pittsburgh. I collaborated with other instructors to plan additional learning opportunities for my students. In this role I also assisted volunteer instructors and worked with with local community groups and organizations to incorporate civic engagement in my classes.In addition, I participated in many trainings through the Compass AmeriCorps program, covering topics including ESL (English as a Second Language), refugee services, conflict resolution, mental health, legal and immigration services, financial literacy, and cultural competency. I participated in member-led professional development opportunities, including cultural celebrations, educational film screenings, community discussions, and presentations.
