Owner And Sr. Solutions Analyst

Chesapeake, Va

Full-time Consultant 7/04 - 7/08 & 7/08 - 11/11Focused on the development of "Gendatarator" - a web tool designed to allow users to quickly and easily generate large batches of customized test data without writing code. Gendatarator was developed in VB.NET 3.5, and interfaces to SQL Server 2008 for data access. Consulting services offered by Cydonian Technologies included legacy systems integration, systems automation, and technology management. I consulted for Chartway FCU, including a project that added capabilities to an automated system for demographic-based inbound call routing. I also worked on several speculative ventures, including a project for a local investor to build a site for automobile marketing with on-the-fly generation of PDF's from a database.

Dir Of Technology

Virginia Beach, Va

I was responsible for day-to-day management of all IT needs including Help Desk, user support, telecommunications, networking, software development/support, and database management. This involved oversight of staff, projects, budgets, vendors, deliverables, and customer expectations. Conceptualized and developed a system for analyzing demographics for inbound calls and routing them based on the financial profile of the member. This required building a financial analysis program and directing the data into a SQL database. The information was then used effectively to route and prioritize inbound calls through the call center.

Director Of It/Vp Of It

Virginia Beach, Va

I worked as both the Director of IT and the VP of Technology at various points in my tenure at Chartway. I was responsible for strategic and day-to-day management of all IT needs including Help Desk, user support, telecommunications, networking, software development/support, and database management. This involved oversight of staff, projects, budgets, vendors, deliverables, and customer expectations. I also developed strategic plans for utilization of technology at 1, 3, and 5 year intervals. As VP, I reported directly to the COO/CFO, and was responsible for the utilization of technology in defining and achieving business goals. Some key highlights during my tenure included:• Conceptualized, co-developed, and implemented the E-Statement program. This involved development inVB.NET, TCL, and SQL, with on-the-fly creation of PDF documents for E-Statements. The code was in use from 2001 to 2009 with virtually no changes. E-Statement resulted in a total savings of over $1 Million during the life of the product.• Developed a comprehensive Disaster Recovery Plan for compliance with NCUA audit guidelines. This included the development of a comprehensive backup/recovery plan with off-site tape storage and redundant data circuits. Utilizing this plan after Hurricane Isabel in 2003, Chartway was the first financial institution in Tidewater to open its doors (we officially opened our main branch at 11am the morning after the storm). I actually weathered the storm in our Data Center in an effort to ensure continued operation.

Lan Manager/Automation Manager /San Manager

Navy Exchange Command

Virginia Beach, Va

SAN Manager (January 2000 – May 2001) Designed, developed, and implemented a Storage Area Network (SAN) utilizing a fibre-channel “back-end” network for storage management and data backups. The network provided dynamic access to over 10 Terabytes of storage, and allowed on-line daily backups in excess of 6 Terabytes with no impact on LAN performance. The SAN was designed and built with “best of breed” hardware and software that included Brocade, Veritas, EMC, StorageTek, and LTO tape drives.Automation Manager (September 1998 – January 2000) – Tasked with managing the automation of legacy applications to maximize efficiency and reduce costs. I wrote and implemented customized applications to read input data from a file, and simulate a human typing at a console. This allowed a scripted PC to do the work of up to 32 operational staffers. This project alone saved 32 man-hours each day, freed up four staff positions, and resulted in an annual savings of over $200,000. In addition, I created scripts to automatically and securely change passwords on Cisco routers across the 400+ site enterprise. (This script streamlined the manual process from two days to about 30 minutes of human interaction.)LAN Manager (December 1993 – September 1998) – Responsible for managing the staff, budget, and resources required to maintain a network of over 30 files-ervers and over 1500 PC-based workstations. This involved supervising a staff of 20 people providing network and application support to the Hampton Roads region, and providing liaison support to staff in other US and overseas locations. Additional responsibilities included management of remote network access, training support, Help Desk management, desktop management, development of equipment specifications, and budgeting. The NEXCOM HQ network was profiled as the “centerfold” in the September 1995 issue of Network Computing Magazine. The network alsoreceived a User Excellence Award from Network World Magazine.

1993 - 2001 ~8 yrs

Project Manager

Virginia Beach, Va

Worked primarily as a hands-on Project Manager for customized network design and implementation. I personally designed the first high-speed (FDDI) network on a US Navy ship and coordinated the installation. This project (SWIFTNET) involved developing the network topology, ensuring device protocol compatibility, management of labor hours, materials ordering, and management of the installation staff. SWIFTNET was completed within the allotted time and under budget. I also designed and implemented a 1000+ node LAN/MAN for the Naval Exchange Command using FDDI (NEXNET). NEXNET required interfacing the LAN with a Unisys A10 minicomputer, and multiple legacy Honeywell systems. Additional duties included providingtechnical guidance and content for the Contracts Department.
