Stories need to be shared. They connect us through shared experiences and the collected conscience. Something very personal to the individual may carry meaning for the reader who cannot express this but can identify.This way we can share the burden of loss, of loneliness and in our brokenness we are whole again.Mental health is so important and I feel it is essential to own your feelings and to acknowledge that some days you are just fragments of your former self. Poetry and art help you to express this so the healing can begin.I am passionate about education.Young people need teachers who can light that spark and have someone who believes in them; who shows them they can follow their dreams.I have always been interested in the written word as a means to teach - once a teacher always a teacher!To Trust, An African is a memoir in which I explore the social impact of segregation on ordinary people's lives seen from my perspective aged seventeen. I wanted to take the reader on my journey growing up in Rhodesia and then after independence in Zimbabwe so they could have an idea about the devastating psychological impact of racism. At the same time I have tried to capture the essence of the unspoilt Southern Africa of my youth.I am working on two more books - one, a romance set in a Devonshire garden and the other a story of my Irish great great grandfather, who became a pioneer in alluvial diamond mining in the mid 1800's.I enjoy writing poetry and short stories.I’m proud to be a self published poet and author. African Yesterdays and Other Horizons is a collection of poetry written as an exile.I taught English and history and AIDs awareness at the Convent in Harare. I hold a Bachelor of Education degree from the University of South Africa.In my day time job - I support adults with learning disabilities, working with some of the most amazing people I have ever met!Currently learning Greek and French
