They produce some wonderful cookie cutters and baking tools. I was the lead in their custom work department, where I was responsible for handling clients who required custom work and manufacturing. It is through 3D printing that I became self-taught in CAD software and am now skilled in DFAM (Design for Additive Manufacturing) and 3D printing. Together with my business partners, we grew the business dramatically and Imagination Lab is now one of, if not the, largest customer cookie cutter manufacturer in South Africa; supplying bakers and stores nationwide. My decision to leave the company was based off of the need for personal growth and development.

I worked as an intern for Akhani3D (Pty)Ltd (Formerly Rapid3D) for a period of a month in which I learnt the industry of additive manufacturing, DFAM as well as more in-depth approaches to rapid prototyping. My primary roles in this internship was as an assistant to the lead technicians. This included cleaning of orders, resetting and cleaning of multiple different types of 3D printers including SLS, FDM, DLP, PolyJet and MultiJet machines. I was also involved with a 60W CO2 laser cutter, which I designed items for, set up and ran both for customers and internal projects. Finally, I was also involved in the manufacturing of wax molds used in the mining industry. This was an amazing learning experience which gave me insight into the industry and only grew my passion for additive manufacturing.

DKT3D (Closed 2018) was a home-run 3D Printing service offered as a small extension to the offering of DKT Solutions (Pty)Ltd. I was solely responsible for this work. We provided custom 3D printing services to the general public and my primary roles were CAD, 3D printing, machine maintenance, customer support, product development and internal R&D.It was a good experience that allowed me to gain excellent experience and eventually merge with a close friend to form Imagination Lab (Pty)Ltd, which is still going strong.
