A saving of £250k achieved over a five year period;o Introducing changes to process and automation to either reduce the number of tickets and/or the amount of manual effort required to resolve issues;o Deputising for the IT Director at various meetings;o Membership of the Cyber Security Steering Group, the Operational Incident Management Team, the Operational Resilience Forum and the Health and Safety Steering Committee.
Head Of It Services
Responsible for the running of the group production systems, delivery of 1st, 2nd & 3rd line support via multi-disciplined teams including service desk, provisioning, infrastructure, mainframe operations and admin support. Management of a total budget in excess of £6m.Highlights in the role included:o Implementation of an asset management and software licensing process to ensure full control of all Society assets from acquisition to secure disposal;o Introduction of a cost control process that reduced budgeted costs by £600k in the first year; o Designing and implementing an Out of Hours IT support capability using a mixture of automated alerting, third party call centre and in-house support staff;o Management of the supplier portfolio and the tendering of all maintenance, telephony and printing services to achieve savings in excess of 48% on the existing spend;o Negotiation of a 40% discount on a new mainframe;o Development of strong customer relationships across the business; o Working with key suppliers to ensure the effective delivery of third party support; o IT representative on the Group Operational Risk Committee, Information Security Committee and Group Crisis Management Team. IT Lead for Health and Safety and IT Risk Management;o IT Services announced Winner of the 2015 Outstanding Team of the Year Award.
Head Of It Production Systems
Assumed responsibility for the IT support function which was not operating as effectively as it should and implemented a number of changes which included:o Developing the capability of the IT Service Desk from a pure 1st line function to a 1st/2nd line function focused on providing excellent customer service. First time fix stats stood at 65% after the 1st year; o The merging of the telecoms and infrastructure functions;o Making management changes in the area.
Systems Development Manager
Responsible for procuring a document imaging and workflow solution and leading a team of developers and analysts to develop/integrate and implement the solution. The focus of this work was to achieve an improvement in process efficiency, together with a saving in headcount.
Head Of Programme Management
o Established a Programme Office to provide management information on all project activity within the Society, and to provide ad hoc consultancy support on project and programme issues.o Involved in the introduction of an organisational wide balanced business scorecard approach to performance management, ensuring all activities were aligned with strategy.o Developed and implemented a standard approach to benefit management, allowing assessment of both tangible and intangible benefits.o Introduced a tailored approach to project management, and an increased awareness of the importance of project disciplines to ensure delivery of all non-standard activity. o Promoted project management skills through the recruitment of two full time project managers and the training of 24 staff with responsibility for delivery of projects in their areas.o Worked with the Executive team to develop the strategic plan for the Society.o Took over the management of the Business Change department following the departure of the previous incumbent. During this period I oversaw the introduction of a work measurement tool, Nucqleus, which enabled task/role analysis across departments to identify opportunities for process efficiencies and/or cost savings.o Developed and implemented a new approach to managing change within the organisation by ensuring a consistent approach was taken to the prioritisation of work, regardless of type (eg maintenance, projects, new products, business as usual improvement).
Project Manager
o Responsible for the implementation of an e-commerce initiative allowing delivery of mortgage applications over the Internet, using a common front end that was scalable to branch offices and third parties. o Introduced credit scoring within the Society to replace the previous manual approach. This achieved a 10% reduction in headcount in addition to an increase in throughput.o Established a Credit Scoring department to manage and further develop this capability.
Mortgage Lending Manager
o In charge of a team of six Advances Officers and clerical support staff, I was responsible for underwriting in excess of £360m advances per annum on residential properties. o Responsible, on the user side, for the successful implementation of a document imaging system.o Oversaw the Mortgage Department’s preparations for Y2K.
Computer Auditor
o Responsible for auditing all aspects of the Society’s computer systems including logical access, physical security, disaster contingency, compliance with legislation and system development issues. o General audit work also undertaken included audit reviews of branches and subsidiaries, including an estate agency and financial advisors. o Responsible for production of detailed management information and analysis.
It Development Manager
o Responsible for eight programmers and analysts within the Development Section. During this time I introduced coding standards and reviews, and development, user testing and source control procedures.o Specified and developed all conversion processes required to convert the real-time investment system in LINC, a fourth generation language, from the original COBOL. o Analysed the impact on the organisation of the introduction of a customer database, and the processes required to convert from the existing account based system.
Analyst Programmer/Senior Analyst Programmer
• Responsible for the project to convert all the account data from a competitor when three of their branches were acquired.• Involved in the development of a COBOL real-time investment system and the installation of a cashier counter top terminal system.
