Daan Bronkhorst studied sinology, economy and philosophy at Leiden University. Since 1979, he has been a staff member of the Dutch section of Amnesty International. He has written numerous articles and a number of books both on China and on human rights topics. English publications include 'Truth and Reconciliation. Obstacles and Opportunities for Human Rights', (1995); and chapters for encyclopedic works including 'Human Rights: The Essential Reference' (1999) and 'World At Risk' (2002, 2009). He has published five anthologies of Dutch translations of traditional Chinese poetry, and edited seven Dutch-language anthologies of international poetry and prose.Specialties: human rights issues, reconciliation and truth commissions, human rights films, international poetry, Chinese affairs, Chinese literature
