I am currently the Senior Academic Engagement Programme Manager for the Offshore Renewable Energy Catapult, managing cutting edge research projects and wider relationships with UK academic institutions. Prior to this I was employed as an Innovation Manager also within the Offshore Renewable Energy Catapult, helping companies in this exciting industry to develop. I previously worked as a Senior Development Engineer in the NPI department of Edwards Vacuum, developing Exhaust Management (Abatement) Systems primarily for the semiconductor industry.Following the successful completion of my doctorate, I worked as a Postdoctoral Researcher at the Swansea University Institute for Structural Materials. I was part of the Rolls Royce University Technology Centre, conducting advanced materials research for Rolls Royce plc. aerospace division.I have completed an engineering doctorate in Materials Engineering in Swansea University. The EngD is a four year program working with the engineers at Rolls Royce, the academics at Swansea and the research tools within the institute, in order to provide solutions to important issues with current and future aerospace materials.I undertook a Masters degree in Mechanical and Marine Engineering in Liverpool John Moores University obtaining a 1st Class Honours. I enjoyed the Materials, fluids, FEA and CFD aspects of the course greatly. Whilst undertaking my degree I was employed as an apprentice Mechanical Engineer for a Marine Engineering Repair company following a successful year in industry. I worked with the company out of university term time gaining knowledge in many different industry practices. Before going to university I gained employment as an Assistant Engineer at Hyder Consulting, an engineering consultancy in Cardiff, through the YInI (Year in Industry) programme. Towards the end of my placement I was offered full time employment with the company as an Assistant Asbestos Surveyor.
