I was project lead for new product development, which involves product design & sourcing, test planning & evaluation, and preparation for production. My job as design and development engineer placed me at the center of the hub between product planning, testing, R&D, process engineering and production.

I focused on mechanical test design as part of the Nike Apparel Test Lab (NAL) team. I worked on development of a new test fixture and methodology to expand and improve an experimental test. Additionally, I completed routine testing and data analysis projects for design, quality control, and material development areas at Nike. In order to transition to G. Loomis, I shifted to a consultant role in order to facilitate the continuation of the test method development in the NAL.

I worked as a material testing analyst, as part of an international technical team. Analyzed quantitative data to create clear, concise and understandable Word & Powerpoint reports in a timely manner. With another analyst, we wrote a program to automate a time consuming step of analysis which drastically reduced the time consumed by our entire team.

U.S. Army SPTD Tripod System: As Lead Researcher, managed and performed design, analysis, fabrication and assembly to develop a lightweight tripod system that improves the effectiveness of Soldier Precision Targeting Devices (SPTDs) and aids soldier safety/survivabilityCeramic-Foam Filter (CFF) Test System: Developed, including fabrication and testing, a first generation prototype test system to characterize fluid flow through CFFs used in metal casting—with the aim of improving modeling accuracy, thereby reducing the potential for costly repair and flawed parts (part example: airliner engine housings)Wave Energy Turbine GENerator (WETGEN): Translated concept sketches in order to realize a scaled physical model of a new wave energy technology via Additive Manufacturing (3D Printing)Additional Project: Aerospace Adhesives Fracture Testing, Mini Barley Malter (for Instructional use at OSU)

Performed duties as an aid on several graduate projects. Provided assistance machining parts, assembling components, reviewing literature and generating technical documents.

Managed Steam Efficiency Project - Improved efficiency of steam system used to heat caustic cleaning water. Completed all aspects from planning to installation.

Worked to implement a preventative maintenance program at several plants based on LEAN principles. The goal was to reduce downtime of equipment, thereby improving plant efficiency. Generated documentation, trained employees in maintenance of equipment, and modified and repaired equipment for easier maintenance.
