I'm an advanced standing graduate student in the School of Social Work at Loyola University Chicago. I'm in the Micro Practice Specialization on an Advanced Clinical Practice Track. I received my Bachelor of Arts in Social Work with Highest Distinction in May 2024 from Purdue University Northwest. I also graduated with a minor in psychology to provide me with an enriched understanding of human behavior from a psychological standpoint. My interests in service provisions are in domains of crisis intervention and trauma work. I have geared my field experiences in both my volunteer work and undergraduate practicums to foster the development of my knowledge and skill acquisition in such areas of practice. I'm currently a Volunteer Medical Victim Advocate for Fair Haven Rape Crisis Center. As a Volunteer Medical Victim Advocate, I meet survivors of sexual violence in the hospital following victimization to provide support, help facilitate decision making, develop a safety plan, encourage effective coping, provide psychoeducation, and offer additional resources. In my senior placement of my BSW, I was an intern at Neurobehavioral Hospital in the Social Services Department. This facility is an adult inpatient psychiatric hospital dealing with acute cases of mental health crises to provide crisis stabilization services. In my junior placement of my BSW, I was an intern at The Caring Place, Inc in Porter County. This non-profit organization is an emergency shelter for domestic violence survivors and also serves as a recovery house for women that struggle with substance use. Prior to my experiences in social work, I was a Rehabilitation Aide for Midwest Orthopaedics at Rush in the outpatient physical and occupational therapy department. In this position, I served as the liaison between patients and their clinician. In addition to my orthopaedic experience, I completed a total of 55 observation hours in a neurological outpatient clinic and various inpatient units. During this time, I was able to develop empathetic relationships with patients to provide encouragement and support during the administration of their treatment. I am incredibly happy to use the knowledge I have gained from my various roles and experiences to further develop my skills as a practicing student social worker!
