As a first-generation Guatemalan-American from Compton, California, my journey has been shaped by a commitment to service, resilience, and the desire to make a lasting impact in my community. I earned my Associates of Arts in Psychology, Behavioral Sciences, and Humanities from West Los Angeles College. I currently serve as Lead Case Manager at Midnight Mission on Skid Row, where I help individuals facing homelessness navigate complex challenges and work toward stability. My role allows me to empower clients with resources and support, guiding them through everything from securing permanent housing to accessing medical care and immigration assistance. As the only Spanish-speaking case manager on my team, I took the initiative to create a Spanish-language Narcotics Anonymous meeting, further ensuring that our services are inclusive and accessible to all. Currently, I am expanding my expertise by pursuing a post-baccalaureate program in Communication Disorders at California State University, Fullerton, with the goal of continuing to serve my community in new and impactful ways. My new knowledge in the field has already translated with helping me communicate with deaf, individuals with stuttering, and learning disabilities more effectively. It has also broaden my mindset in a neglected demographic within the field. Outside of work, I’m a dedicated basketball fan—GO WARRIORS!
