As someone with a background in data science and public health, I find myself drawn to the intersection of biomedical research and technology. My time as a programmer in a human genetics lab at the University of Michigan as well as my current research at Emory Rollins School of Public Health examining epigenetic modification in the context of environmental exposures and health outcomes has instilled in me a keen interest in -omics research. Moving forward, I hope to apply my technical skills as well as my epidemiological training to better characterize disease etiology and its underlying biological pathways. I am especially interested in health disparity research and the underlying environmental disparities that contribute to such widespread inequity. I believe public health has an enormous role to play in policy and decision-making and I hope to work towards making public health research as useful and available to the general public as possible to inform more equitable and sustainable health policy initiatives.
