Dale Mann is Professor Emeritus at Columbia University (Teachers College and the School for International & Public Affairs) and Founder and Managing Director of Interactive, Inc. Since 1986, he has concentrated in e-learning, a field in which he has been identified as one of America’s ten most influential leaders.At VCU and with a grant from the USDE, Dr. Mann is creating the first virtual school to train school administrators – an immersive, interactive, and individualized web-enabled replication of a middle school with day-in-the-life scenarios for action on a real-time and scored basis. Through the company’s new division, Rehearsals4Health.com, Dr. Mann is adding next generation simulations to patient education in support of networks of physicians and hospitals, health insurers and pharmaceutical companies. Interactive, Inc. has pioneered simulations for social purposes. The Company created the first role-playing computer simulations for at-risk students. "What's Next?" was credited with changing the dropout rate in some of the 35 states where it was used. "Money Masters" was jointly developed with IBM. It taught basic math skills to dropouts twice as fast as any other medium while changing the attitudes of young people toward their personal money management.Interactive, Inc. is listed on the US Department of Education’s IES Registry of Outcome Evaluators with 200+ large-scale R&E projects. Dr. Mann has been involved with educational reform since the 1960’s when his Washington service included responsibility as Special Analyst for Education in the Executive Office of President Lyndon Johnson. Dr. Mann is the author of Policy Decision Making in Education and, Making Change Happen? He is the founding chair of the 66-country International Congress for School Effectiveness. With the Soros Foundations and the World Bank, he created networks to reform the school systems of 8 countries of the former Soviet Union and has worked in 30 countries.
