Application Developer
CurrentThe position involves primarily working as a back-end developer for several applications that Bio5 used for every day functions, membership tracking, and a storefront. This involved the full process of meeting with stake holders, interpreting asks and needs, and then implementation of these requests into the application as well as the overall maintenance of the application and associated scripts. Additionally, forward thinking for the life of the application was required in making sure that all new implementation either could be easily expanded on by someone who is unfamiliar with the applications as Bio5 often had student developers.Part of the position was also the full documentation of the applications in their use for general users and admins and the history of the application and reasons for developmental choices. Features and other requests were handled through a scrum-based user story system for easy tracking and searching of previous work. Finally, as the position involved working with student developers, the position also involved helping with training in general skills and the specific knowledge related to in house applications. As time moved forward this process has been refined from a hastily thrown together lesson at the start to preparation of moving to a web-based hosting for the health of the applications as well as easy set up of dev environments.
