OBE Organic Beef is a an Australian owned, family business. We produce certified organic halal grassfed beef for export all over the world. Our company was established in 1996. I manage the operation & overall performance & direction of our company. I have ten years experience in the meat industry with significant international exposure, including nearly five years residing in Asia. I have enjoyed cultivating and managing strong international supply chain relationships in the agricultural, food and logistics industries. I am responsible for the leadership and management of the OBE team and the development and implementation of strategies for the growth of our company. We're working towards developing a strong, harmonised voice to help grow Australia's organic industriesIn the period of September – December 2016 the Australian Government Department of Agriculture and Water Resources (DAWR) led a process of preliminary discussions with the organic industry to test the waters on the interest of the industry in working together to increase the competitiveness of the Australian organics sector.The discussions led to workshops at the Australian Parliament House (on 8 December 2016 and 30 January 2017). An Australian Organic Industry Working Group (AOIWG) was formed with an independent chair appointed by the Minister for Agriculture and Water Resources in February 2017 to develop an industry action plan.It was proposed that a Steering Committee representing a cross section of the organic industry would be appointed to direct the work program. The steering committee was endorsed by the AOIWG at a meeting on the 10th May 2017. I was responsible for assisting in the development of export organic beef sales and management of the OBE company. I lived in Hong Kong and worked collaboratively to supervise a small team of OBE personnel located within the Brisbane office and in regional locations in Australia. I travelled regularly around the world to promote sales of our organic grass-fed halal beef. In this role, I initiated and developed new sales channels for our halal beef, into several new export markets in the Middle East, including Lebanon, Jordan and the United Arab Emirates. Successful new business included the Carrefour supermarket chain in Dubai. We also participated in the region's largest food trade show, Gulfood for two years. This resulted in several new pieces of business being sourced.

As Regional Manager for Asia, I was responsible for the sale of our organic grass-fed beef our Asian clients. This included regular travel to Singapore, Malaysia, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Indonesia, Japan & South Korea. During my time in this role, I oversaw a research project to learn more about consumer organic meat preferences in China. This involved sourcing, hiring briefing and managing a local marketing company based in Beijing. The research was used to help us create more culturally relevant and targeted marketing materials. I also used this time to study Mandarin at Beijing Language & Cultural University.

As Export Manager, I was responsible for managing the export side of our business. This included overseeing all meat-related production to ensure the very highest standards and country-specific specifications were met. I was also responsible for managing all export documentation and dealing with various Australian government departments.I also developed and implemented new upgraded quality assurance procedures and associated documentation.

My role as Business Development Manager for OBE Organic Beef included both beef marketing and the development of beef export markets, as well as management of the OBE Organic Beef supply chain. Supply chain co-ordination, involved liaising with organic producers, processors and customers to ensure that the organic integrity of OBE Organic Beef was maintained. I was based in Brisbane, however travelled regularly throughout Australia and Asia, to maintain strong relationships with supply chain partners and customers. I liaised closely with our Organic Certifiers NASAA and ACO, to ensure that we continued to meet the highest standards of organic certification.

'Busabout' is the unique hop-on, hop-off network all over Europe. The service targets 18-35 year olds, mostly from Australia, Canada & the US. This role required me to be interested in travel, be friendly, approachable, and have a good sense of fun, as well as enjoy interacting with people of all ages and nationalities. The job involved non-stop European travel during the summer months. I gained valuable experience in leading groups, presentation skills and European language skills including French & Spanish.
