About Damian Carr

Advanced catheter design & manufacturing expert, dedicated to educating engineers on the how to improve DFM, reduce R&D cost and duration, while vastly improving device capabilities and performance. Background:With a globally impactful career, my foundations of knowledge were gained through working and consulting with some of Europe's leading medical device contract manufacturers. During this time, I gained exposure and developed a deep fascination with hundreds of device designs, processing methods, equipment, tooling, materials, supplier contacts, and general know-how.I went on to found a catheter-focused design consultancy in 2019. A year later, I found myself involved in the first outbreak of COVID-19 in South Korea while on-site with a client. Upon my eventual return home, I built a private lab for catheter prototyping, where I spent years assisting and supporting cardiac, cancer care and bronchial-focused start-up companies, focusing on concept design, prototyping and design for manufacturing(various scale).Upon realizing an overwhelming educational gap in the design and development of catheter-based technologies, manufacturing methods, and knowledge sharing, alongside witnessing the cost involved with seemingly small mistakes, I laid the foundations of what has become "Eyedea MedTech Education." Since its inception, we have worked with many of the world's industry leaders to propel medical device technology forward, a vision we tirelessly pursue through collaboration with global medtech leaders, SMEs, suppliers, and educational institutes. In my time, I have pioneered ground breaking innovations that have redefined the field of medical device engineering and dedicated my life to continuously advancing my knowledge in order to share with others in the space. "His relentless dedication to empowering engineers, companies, and technologies through cutting-edge design education and awareness, all with a comical twist, has earned him a reputation as a true luminary in the industry." - most honoured introduction
