About Damien Bruce
Having studied Games Design for a total of five years and gained both an extended diploma and degree in it, and worked a year and half at Rare Ltd, I have gained all sorts of skills related to Game Development. Ranging from diverse engine knowledge of Unity, Unreal, Gamemaker and ability to learn more, knowledge of art/sound/level design/vfx enough to make prototype mechanics, to the intricacies of cosmetic production, getting the items in engine and setup, using Perforce to upload changes, getting the items sold in a premium shop and discount sales.I have a creative but also logical mind with a practical approach to problem solving and a drive to see things through to completion. I really do hate to see things fall through. Keen eye for detail, love finding edge cases where issues may arise in a design. Eager to learn and eager to overcome challenges. Always talking, always giving heads up, always driven to not let the team down. Get on with just about anyone with enough time, outside of work I like to hang out with people in all different kinds of departments which has given me some insight in quite a few aspects of game studios.Attended the Game Republic Student Showcase of 2022, nominated for 5 awards (Game Design, Game Audio, Game Art, Game Tech, Best Team), won 2nd place for Audio. Student Rep for two years at Nottingham College, where I also created the Games Club where we got consoles and PCs set up to play games during lunch break. Quite proud of my 2:1 in Games Design, helped me realize that my strongest passion in games was also where I was most talented, experimental game design.I also enjoy Game Jams, mainly attending the Global Game Jam on a yearly basis. Love meeting random new people to spin new ideas for fun game play mechanics around a theme. Great chance to get the creative juices flowing and to meet some cool new people.
