Mumbai Public School Programme:Changing the landscape of Mumbai’s English medium public school educationLow performing government schools can turn around and deliver results. This is the premise of Naandi’s initiative to manage English medium schools of the Municipal Corporation of Greater Mumbai (MCGM). Under this partnership known as Mumbai Public Schools Programme, school teachers are trained to teach effectively in English and make learning aids along with learning management tools such as assessments, tracking learning levels of each child, customising teacher training and conducting teaching capability audits. Naandi’s Mumbai Public School team is ensuring that 10,000 students, none of whose families speak in English, are using English as the medium to study different subjects in their schools. Unlike other language mediums following the national curriculum framework developed from Class I onwards; Mumbai Public Schools have two additional classes – lower and upper kindergarten.
