The Commonwealth of Massachusetts is home to the leading life sciences clusters in the world. Whether biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, medical devices, diagnostics or bioinformatics, it is the mission of the Massachusetts Life Sciences Center to catalyze continued innovation and growth in the life sciences, attract people, jobs and investment to the Commonwealth, and support vital scientific research that will improve the human condition. We make strategic investments in public and private institutions that are advancing life sciences research, development and commercialization, and serve as convener and collaborator building ties throughout the Massachusetts life sciences community and beyond.

• Managed and directed 3.5 million dollars in total grantmaking to support the Economic Development agenda of The Boston Foundation (TBF).• Redesigned and led TBF’s Economic Development Strategy by taking the existing focus of Workforce Development and adding the areas of Entrepreneurship and Innovation. Specifically encouraging more women and underrepresented minorities to participate in starting careers in tech; and/or building start-ups. • Designed and led the partnership between TBF and global business accelerator MassChallenge, resulting in more underrepresented minorities having access to resources and networks necessary to build enterprises.• Managed all Economic Development oriented relationships with community, city, state, federal and corporate stakeholders.

A business planning program and contest specifically designed to engage residents of Roxbury, Dorchester and Mattapan. The 12 week program identified 20 entrepreneurs from Boston's inner city neighborhoods and provided them with technical assistance and networking opportunities to build their enterprises. The contest culminated in a pitch effort, and the winners were awarded cash prizes that totaled over $10,000.
