Managing logistics activities for MSF’s set-up of an emergency outbreak facility on the Bangladesh / Myanmar border. This response was to start & stabilise an effective containment centre in order to provide medical support for 1 million Rohingya refugees at risk from a large scale diphtheria epidemic.

Management of logistical support & security for the delivery of nutritional & paediatric medical care across conflict-hit Borno State. This involved transitioning project activities from an emergency response to a regular phase, streamlining services & stabilising activities throughout increasing localised attacks as well as providing the initial response to a cholera outbreak.

Given the highly unstable context, & large risks involved in the tensely militarised region, high importance was placed on engaging with authorities to obtain the required documents & updates necessary to move staff, patients & equipment.

We work in remote rural communities & environments where our support paves the way for long-term positive change. This includes opportunities for economic growth & access to safe water & sanitation. Working closely with these communities we provide knowledge about sanitation & safe water as well as ways they can improve their own wellbeing. This includes projects building toilets for schools & providing community facilities such as early childhood development centres to increase health & community engagement.As part of the fieldbase duty management team in Tanzania my role is to ensure our sixteen remote project sites have all the logistical requirements - food, materials & equipment - neccessary to complete their developmental works. It is a challenging role that’s essential to the smooth running of the entire expedition. It requires good organisational & administrative skills, strategic thinking & a motivation to be through. A key aspect of the role is the ability to be flexible, particularly during busier times such as deployment, responding to often unpredictable & changing circumstances.Core responsiblities:- Plan, manage & account for equipment / rations for up to 200 people- Using existing systems & establishing new ones to implement the above- Place large accurate orders with suppliers, maintain good relations & seek cost effectiveness - Work within a critical budget & be able to account for all expenditure - Accurately & effectively administer the issue / repair / replacement of supplies- Be able to account for the whereabouts of all supplies - Liaise with the senior management, the logistics team & remote projects on any equipment repairs or rationing changes - Keep stores organised, safe, clean and ready for use

My role led me to ensure that the schemes provided fun, safe & engaging activities; that the organisation remained fully committed to the inclusion of all disabled children & young people; that they promoted an advocacy of inclusion for disabled children & young people to the wider community.
