Onboard new storage projects, and operationalize them for other groups to maintain. Automate monitoring of our storage environment, as well as new iSeries LPAR builds, taking that process from 2 days to manually build, down to ~15 minutes. Managed a staff of 6 engineers responsible for technologies including Citrix, SAN storage, UNIX/Linux operating systems, Windows/AD, Single Sign On (SSO), user provisioning, messaging, networking, firewalls, and network security. This includes project oversight for deploying new technologies and/or upgrades in those spaces, as well as troubleshooting problems and performance issues. I also provided technical expertise in the areas of UNIX/Linux, SAN storage, networking, and firewalls; augmenting my staff as needed.

My primary responsibilities include engineering SAN and storage solutions involving IBM DS4000, DS5000, and DS8000 storage arrays; along with EMC Clariion CX3, CX4, and VNX storage arrays. We primarily utilize Cisco fabric switches. Current projects include storage design around an Exchange 2010 rollout, installation of new SANs at each CHS facility across the country, and the migration of an EMC Celerra NS80 to a NS960. In addition to my storage duties, when needed, I also help to maintain Red Hat Linux and IBM AIX servers throughout the organization.

I consult into the State of Tennessee performing duties that include UNIX system administration, backups and recovery, and BC/DR.

My primary role as a member of the State and Local team is to support the GTSI contract with the State of Tennessee Office of Information Resources, to research and explore the application of new and existing technologies to be implemented within their datacenter. This has included areas relating to their fabric topology, NAS and SAN storage, and server/data migration. This involved technologies from Scalent, Lefthand Networks, Hitachi Data Systems, Sun Microsystems, Brocade, and APC.I have also supported the State and Local team’s management through the development and writing of technical documents including TCRDs (Technical Customer Requirements Document), and statement of work documents for new projects and proposals that we were responding to.For the US Coast Guard, I installed and configured a new backup solution using Sun StorageTek Enterprise Backup Server 7.4, which reduced the full backup window from approximately 26 hours using their old backup solution, down to approximately 10 hours to complete with the new one.

As the team lead for the UNIX administrators, we maintained over 50 development, test, QA, and production systems, running Solaris 9 and 10, on assorted SunFire servers. We had completed the beginning stages of our DR/BC project, implementing Veritas Cluster Server 4.1, with Veritas Volume Replicator, and the Global Cluster Option for local and remote failover of our business critical databases. My team was also tasked with administering and maintaining over 75TB of usable SAN storage spread across a Hitachi 9990 (USP-V), a Hitachi 9980, a Hitachi 9970, and three Hitachi 9585s, using Brocade switches for our fabrics. Finally, my team administered Veritas NetBackup version 6.0 MP 5, with two StorageTek SL500 tape libraries and a Sun StorageTek VTL+, for backup and recovery for all of our Windows, Novell, and Solaris servers, along with the backups for our Oracle and Microsoft SQL databases.

As a part of the UNIX System Administration team, I helped to maintain over 120 development, test, and production Sun Servers, on hardware platforms ranging from Netra T1s, up to a clustered pair of Ultra Enterprise 10000s. In addition to normal duties, I write shell programs, analyze system panics, troubleshoot hardware and software problems, analyze system performance issues, administer our NIS+ namespace, manage the Jumpstart network installation server, and provide a technical resource to the other three team members. Primarily, we are using Solaris 8, Veritas Volume Manager 2.6 and 3.2, Veritas NetBackup 3.5, Sun Cluster 3.0, and Solstice Disksuite 4.2.1 (mainly on Netra web servers and a few 280Rs). We also utilize a Hitachi 9660 for our SAN storage, along with Brocade switches.

Design and develop a sales and marketing productivity and planning tool that is used to help determine a sales persons, or companies, "Sales Capacity" using time as a constraint to develop the optimal sales plan to produce the most revenue in an annual period. This was done using the Java 1.4 Standard Edition runtime environment, utilizing many components from Swing. Administer and maintain corporate PC environment (Win 98, W2K, WME, and Win XP), the corporate Sun Solaris servers, as well as the corporate web content and e-mail accounts.

Work with assigned ASEC (Authorized Sun Education Center) Partners to help them grow and maintain their Sun Education business, as well as insure that quality standards and instructor certification standards were maintained. I also helped in the selection of new ASEC partners, and managed communication with all ASEC Partners across the US and Canada for information involving hardware and software requirements for every course, as well as notices involving course revisions and new course offerings

Facilitated the integration of Ed Learning employees into Sun Educational Services after Sun's acquisition of Ed Learning. Hire and develop new employees, managed the scheduling of employee and facility resources in conjunction with the other facilities in the Southeast region, I configured and ordered over 100 systems (SunRays, Ultra workstations, and Ultra Servers) including an E10K and 4 HA Clusters, as well as maintain the TCP/IP LAN, and the Jumpstart (network install) server. I was responsible for meeting revenue targets for the facility, and provided monthly and quarterly status reports. I also provided input for the remodeling and expansion of the Atlanta facility, which doubled in size after the acquisition.
