Visual media is all around us.Everywhere you look there is an image attempting to send a message, educate a viewer, or sell a product. Many people have become immune to these attempts because of the extreme overabundance of advertisements. Billboards, store fronts, posters, t-shirts, album covers, magazines, stickers, all crafted with a combination of typography, spacial awareness, photography and graphic design; sometimes, however, without any prior education in the field whatsoever. Every time this happens, a creative loses a potential job.With SHOOK Media Design, we believe that attention to detail and the creative process are two of the most important, and often times absent, aspects of identity. Every restaurant menu made with Comic Sans or product photograph taken and edited on a smartphone degrades the awesomely thoughtful and dedicated world of design.We want to inform and educate those who don't know just how engaging and appealing media can be. We want to help pave the way for a more intelligently artistic form of communication.Let's shake it up a bit.

At Northland's NewCenter, I am responsible for coordinating and generating online content for nncnow.com, mobile apps and related social media platforms. In today's day and age, our focus needs to be online first. This exciting position is fluid and offers a great deal of opportunity for news in the Northland. I started as a Multi-Media Assistant at the station;Equipment:Teleprompter- distribute scripts to crew and talent.Video roller- load, cue, and roll video clips in accordance to director/producer cues and broadcast scripts.Audio board- timely open microphones, cue music and video audio, establish a clear connection from offsite locations, and troubleshoot any sound or connection errors.Graphics- create all on air graphics for evening and weekend broadcasts using templates in Deko and Adobe Photoshop. Other skills: provide clear, calm communication in high stress situations, team work and team building skills, quick decision making, and training new employees on various equipment and processes.
