Key Responsibilities Include:-Oversight and development of the processes that support the delivery of ATE’s planning casework function, with a focus on the North of England and personal caseload responsibilities for the North West of England.-Line manage a team of 4 colleagues (Senior Planning and Planning Managers), including supporting their continuous professional development and contribute to ongoing changes to the Development Management (DM) team.-Allocate new cases, oversight of the workload of each team member and support the Head of Development Management in driving consistency to contribute to high performing and quality service.- Lead the DM team in terms of advocacy for urban design, placemaking and public realm and its intrinsic and crucial relationship with transport and movement. This includes projects and initiatives to enhance street design in future developments.-Provide appropriate advice to colleagues within ATE’s Spatial Planning and Development Management Division, other directorates within ATE, Department for Transport (DfT) colleagues, local planning & highways authorities (inc. combined regions), developers, agents and other persons and bodies as appropriate in connection with development proposals and related matters.- Build networks with key external stakeholders to help drive forward ATE’s ambitions to be a centre of excellence and embed best practice.- Preparation and presention of appropriate evidence to senior leaders. - Support the Planning & Placemaking Strategy Team in the design and implementation of ATE’s planning guidance documents.- Work alongside the Development Management Team Leader (South of England) in developing ATE’s pre-application consultation offer.

Senior Planning Manager in the Development Management Team - ATE Planning Division- Caseload Management of Planning applications which are above the thresholds as per ATE's Statutory Consultee status (from 01/06/2023)- Delivered presentations and interactive workshops at 5 Roadshows throughout the Midlands and the North of England in March/April 2023 to engage with local Planning and Transport authorities prior to the ATE's Stat. Con. status. - Work collaboratively with colleagues in the Planning teams along with other teams in ATE (Regional Engagement, Inspectorate, Data & Analysis, Investment) and DfT planning policy. - Contribute to the refinement of ATE's assessment tools/processes and communication- Research and Evaluation of alignments with ATE, in particular incorporation of Urban Design & Placemaking Principles.
