I am working as a quantitative vulnerable species ecologist for the Inter-American Tropical Tuna Commission where I am focusing on understanding how the environment can drive marine species interactions with fisheries and how climate change is impacting highly migratory species and the fisheries that target them. Prior to that I was a marine spatial ecologist for ECS under contract for NOAA Fisheries Highly Migratory Species Management Division. I completed my PhD at Virginia Institute of Marine Science focusing on the effect of climate change on the redistribution of marine fish species. I received my Masters from California State University Long Beach, studying the effects of anthropogenically-altered water temperatures on the movement patterns and habitat selection of the Eastern Pacific green sea turtle. Prior to graduate school I received a B.S. in marine biology at University of New England.

Research AssociateEcs Oct 2019 - Aug 2023Silver Spring, Maryland, United StatesI was under contract to NOAA Fisheries Highly Migratory Species Management Division. Specifically I was using habitat modeling and quantitative ecology to support fisheries management. -
Graduate StudentVirginia Institute Of Marine Science Aug 2015 - Jun 2020Gloucester Point, Virginia, United StatesAssessing the impacts of climate change of elasmobranch and teleost fishes. Specifically looking at how species' physiology and distribution may change. -

Within the San Gabriel River, Long Beach, CA power plants discharge warm water effluent altering the river's water temperature, potentially affecting the movements and habitat preference of this endangered species. I looked at how temperature directly affects the turtle's behavior and whether they are present in this area year round. Collaborated with permitted NOAA personnel to catch, measure, and tag green sea turtles. Completed 24 hour active tracks on turtles on a 12 ft aluminum boat. Stored and analyzed data using VUE database. Stored and analyzed temperature logger data using Hoboware.I was also on my lab's great white shark response team where we responded to white shark calls from fishermen and tagged and released the shark so we could better understand their movements along southern California. Research AssistantUniversity Of New England Sep 2009 - May 2012Determined the age distribution of six shark species in the Gulf of Mexico. Cut and aged shark vertebrae using a gemsaw and image software, respectively. Also used similar methodology to cut and age Mediterranean Sea elasmobranch species. Assisted in other various research projects including elasmobranch reproduction and physiology, ecology of Atlantic and shortnose sturgeon, Saco River estuary fish larvae survey, skate air exposure, and dogfish tracking. -
Research AssistantGulf Coast Research Laboratory May 2011 - Jul 2011Ocean Springs, MsParticipated in the GCRL inshore shark longline and gillnet survey, shark and ray reproduction, speckled trout tracking.
