This project contributed to a comprehensive base map for Emergency First Responders throughout the metropolitan region. Along with delegating assignments, assisting staff with their research, and tracking progress, I researched, analyzed, validated, corrected, maintained and updated geographic data files, as well as created, modified, and displayed digital geographic data using ESRI ArcGIS software. Here, I created maps to assess the impacts of Hurricane Sandy on different building types using ArcGIS 10. This involved the compilation and synthesis of datasets which captured Hurricane Sandy-related infrastructure damage using PLUTO metrics for distribution to relevant agency divisions. I also generated charts, graphs, and maps to assess the risks to citywide infrastructure due to sea level rise projections for 2050 and 2080.

In this position, I canvassed over 10,000 Queens apartment units in 6 weeks to determine hard-to-find designation status for a joint Hidden Address Pilot Project with the U.S. Census Bureau. I worked through multiple iterations with the project leads to refine our field work methodology. I concluded this phase of the project by authoring reports to document the project context, findings, and challenges.

As a part of this group, I helped research and author a 210 page report on current and recommended local, state, and federal policy initiatives that would reduce energy use within existing buildings and future construction.
