I lead projects to implement parts of the process safety life cycle for oil and gas industry clients in Alaska. I worked closely with clients to identify hazards and protection layers to reduce the risk of these hazards. This enables my clients to operate with a better understanding of how they can reduce risk in their plants while minimizing potential downtime caused by spurious trips and testing of their safety instrumented systems. Activities include safe operating limit table development (SOLT), process hazard analysis (PHA), layer of protection analysis (LOPA), safety integrity level (SIL) calculations, and function test plan development.

Major activities Communicate with drilling crews and clients at rig site and ensure that all plans and equipment are in place for measurement while drilling (MWD) and logging while drilling (LWD) operations. Provide daily updates to management and client about the progress of the well and any problems encountered. Utilize Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM), Predictive Maintenance (PdM), Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and Lean six sigma techniques to increase the reliability of MWD, LWD and RSS downhole tools. Perform failure analysis of any failed tools or service and document findings so that future practices may be suggested to improve reliability. Coach the maintenance technicians on Lean techniques to increase productivity in the maintenance facility.
