Vice President of Engineering at Advanced Composites with over 15 years experience in the manufacture and design of advanced composite structures for aerospace, defense, industrial, and high end sporting goods. Currently responsible for overseeing engineering and maintenance in addition to production scheduling assistance and the setup of a new manufacturing facility.Prior roles at Advanced Composites include Maintenance Supervisor, Design Engineer, and Engineering Manager. Composites Experience:Significant experience with the design and manufacture of composite structures through filament winding. Experienced in manufacturing process development for aerospace and defense to include preliminary contract review, tooling and process development, first article manufacturing, and qualification. 10+ years of experience of composite design and evaluation. Strong skills related to tooling design/fabrication, composite simulation (FEA and other tools), and composite testing. Regular evaluation and selection of materials for composite design including custom epoxy formulations, fiber selection, adhesive selection for specific product performance.Filament Winding Experience:Design and development of filament winding processes for a wide variety of composite parts with differing requirements. Experience with pattern development, tooling development, wet winding, tow-preg winding. Design and fabrication of filament winding machines and auxiliary equipment. Design and fabrication of composite curing ovens up to 30' X 8' X 8'.Aerospace Programs:Led the engineering team through the initial qualification of the Design portion of the AS9100 certification and all additional re-certifications. Trained newer engineers to all aspects of aerospace programs while maintaining compliance with a AS9100 QMS. Specific understanding of high pressure applications, lightning mitigation, surface finish, and high precision tight tolerance composites.Defense Programs:Experienced in process development and qualification of manufacturing processes for defense related programs. Led the design and manufacturing teams in the development of launcher tubes and other high performance programs for military applications.
