Installing bespoke lighting design as well general electrical installation and maintenance work

My role at St Paul Old Ford has great scope. I manage the maintenance and growth of the youth ministry. This includes the management of a youth intern and a youth work volunteer team. And planning and implementing youth work initiatives and a regular youth work programme. I am also the safeguarding lead for Children and Young People. As part of my role as the safeguarding lead, I am also responsible for ensuring that all staff members and volunteers hold a current DBS certificate and are trained in safeguarding. The youth work programmes consist of 3 regular weekly clubs, mentoring schemes and every half term and end of term there are free activities for both children and young people. During the summer I lead the youth camping week away with a volunteer team. I am the person responsible for ensuring that all children and young people are safe, this means I am available to hear concerns about children and young people and supporting them pastorally through any difficult or challenging. Another part of my role is being an advocate for young people and also parents, this has lead to being invited to school, social service and multiple agency workers' meetings.

Whilst I was studying Youth work and Youth ministry at Oasis College, my placement was at Christ Church Chislehurst. During my time here, my role was to support both the youth and children’s ministries. I spent my time in planning and delivering both youth and children’s activities and clubs, some of which were evangelistic and others which were designed to be an open and safe space for children and young people. As my time progressed here, I took on more leadership with a particular focus in one to one mentoring with young people and planning one youth residential weekend away and being a key person involved in the summer youth camping trip.

I spent a year working with MSYN (now called Youth Net). My role was to work alongside local churches to support them in their youth outreach work, most often this was through youth clubs operating in the evening, one project I worked with was in detached youth work with focus points being in parks. I also assisted at a local authority youth center. Another aspect of my work was with the local schools assisting in lunchtime clubs which were; Juggling and circus skills, Christian union and a drop in clubs. We also worked in schools delivering a curriculum in the Religious Education department delivering lessons about Harvest, Advent, Christmas, and Easter and the Physical Sexual Health Education curriculum delivering workshops around Sexual health education.
