• Responsible for engineering and management of projects at two Illinois locations (Lemont and Channahon). Typical projects range from $200K to $1M+. • Duties include estimating costs, planning, design, drawings, scheduling, engineering, supervision of contractors, training, and financial processing for projects.• Responsibilities include ensuring projects are done safely by outside contractors and the final result meets the needs of the customer.• Examples of projects include installing new fire suppression systems for flammable truck and rail loading; inspection and replacement of deficient findings for 1M gal storage tanks; installing new pipe lines; purchase and installation of production equipment for bottling lines; upgrades to LV and MV power distribution networks; remodeling site facilities; design of truck and rail loading racks and associated product and service piping, etc.• Administrative functions include purchasing and receiving for projects; customer billing for steam, nitrogen, electrical , etc. usage; record keeping for project costs; engineering designs for new or modified construction projects; record keeping, etc. • This position requires the use of mechanical, chemical, electrical, structural engineering disciplines.

Chicago Area

- Project manager for capital projects including new and/or replacement equipment. Duties include design, budgets, scheduling, and managing contractors.- Process engineer for surface preparation of metals, coatings, and steel prep systems.- Value stream engineer for production facilities. Duties include maintenance and design functions to support operations of a manufacturing facility. - Analysis and design/re-design of new and existing tooling for products.- New product design for patentable processes. Includes creating 2-D and 3-D computer designs.- Performs industrial engineering functions including time studies and analysis of processes including startup, changeovers, run times, etc. This Includes detailed analysis and implementing the resulting path forward to achieve improvement goals. - Trained in root cause analysis, six sigma, lean manufacturing, etc. - Engineered galvanizing systems and components.- Selected to be part of the formation of an company wide innovation program.

Illinois

- Implemented, managed, and directed personnel for environmental waste programs. These programs included regulation, characterization, treatment, and disposal of Environmental and Radioactive Waste materials such as low level radioactive waste, mixed radioactive waste (containing other environmental hazards), Transuranic (TRU) waste, and High Level radioactive waste. - Acting nuclear facility (5 facilities) engineer for 1 1/2 years. Responsibilities included maintaining regulatory compliance with external agencies and maintaining a safe work environment for personnel. Duties also included overseeing safe and secure storage of materials and designing storage facilities.- Specialist for the TRU waste program that classified and shipped items to the WIPP disposal facility. This was a large scale Dept of Energy program that used the Argonne site as a prototype for a process to be used at other National Laboratories around the country. All the protocols were developed during this time.- Performed duties as the training coordinator for the facility maintaining certifications and licenses of personnel and the facility.- Custodian and responsible for weapons grade plutonium materials on site.- Wrote contracts with waste disposal facilities. - Represented ANL in working with numerous external federal, state, local, and private agencies.

Bremerton, Washington

- Completed Naval Nuclear Power training programs.- Test engineer for the overhaul (refueling/decommissioning) of subs, cruisers, and aircraft carriers with various reactor plant designs. Duties included writing and directing the tests and acceptance criteria for naval reactor plants and operations. Test direction included coordination and training of large groups of personnel. - This engineering experience included the knowledge of systems that support a reactor plant including chemistry, mechanical, electrical, reactor physics, metallurgical, environmental, and radiological engineering.- Was the planner/scheduler for ship overhauls. - Passed intensive training and an oral board of review to become a lead engineer.- Selected as part of a team to implement new environmental regulations. Duties included detailed characterization of disposal items and creating a process to be used on site and at other west coast sites. - Designed waste treatment and storage facilities. Developed standards for meeting regulatory compliance, and represented the Navy at public hearings.- Performed naval architectural duties such as calculation of weights and moments for naval ships and submarines, dry docking plans, weight distribution, trim dives, inclining tests, etc. - Held security clearances.
