I started out as a busboy at the Half Moon Bay Brewing Company in the autumn of 2012, and after a few months I began serving at larger dinners and events (i.e. banquets). Within a year of my hire as a busboy at the restaurant I was promoted to Banquet Captain. Essentially an assistant managerial position, my role as Banquet Captain -- among other things -- placed me in charge of most event staff and left me responsible for the tidiness and upkeep of a large event center, as well as the overall satisfaction of our large numbers of guests. The types of events included weddings, receptions, company parties, corporate retreats, celebration of life/funeral receptions, birthdays, community events, and political fundraisers.

I worked as a skateboarding instructor and camp counselor at YMCA Skate Camp at Sequoia Lake for three summers from 2009 to 2012. With the 2nd tallest tree in the world a mile and a half hike away, this was the best 1st job I can imagine. It doesn't get much better than skateboarding, beautiful natural scenery, and working with kids who are excited to learn and have fun.
