About Dan Hunter

Education is an essential part of every human-beings life. From day one, we begin learning and adapting to the world around us. As an educator, I work hard to ensure that every learner is supported in their learning journey. Whether a learner is at the start of their secondary education experience, or at the end, I ensure that they have the tools that they need to move into the next steps of their lives. Not only is understanding the world important, but understanding how people work is essential in learning, and something that I try to teach my learners.During my time as a teacher, I have taught a wide range of subjects. This has helped me grow my teaching expertise and enables me to be understanding of almost every aspect of a secondary learners education in New Zealand. I have also been fortunate enough to co-develop new units, and new courses, as well as assist in the development of a brand new school. Overseeing a school as a part of the Board of Trustees has also given me a greater understanding of school operations. Throughout the years I have also had the privilege of working in teams responsible for the running of schools and establishing behavior management systems, including PB4L. I have had the opportunity to up skill other staff within pastoral care, and support the with their personal journey of developing their behaviour management abilities. Leading within Pastoral care and Curriculum has been a great experience that has left me with a wide range of transferable skills. I pride myself in my pastoral care ability, and credit this to the countless opportunities I have had working with people over the last decade in Education Management. Supporting people in their own growth and learning is my passion, and something that pastoral care goes hand in hand with. Guiding people in their next steps is incredibly rewarding and something I am passionate about."The art of teaching is the art of assisting discovery" - Mark Van Doren
