Served with the best officers in the nation for 20 years. Most of my career was focused on specialized investigations requiring technical training and a high level of attention to detail. Assignments included:- Traffic collision investigations: Investigated traffic collisions as a field officer and field training officer. Was a member of the Specialized Collision Investigation Detail (SCID) for several years investigating collisions where the City of LA was involved, either directly or indirectly, and severe injuries or death had resulted. Completed collision reconstructions for the LA District and City Attorney's offices, as well as divisional detectives for criminal or civil litigation. Was an instructor for the LAPD collision courses, and co-creator of the "Enhanced Collision Investigation" 40-hour course. Utilized total station and CAD technologies in evidence and scene documentation, diagramming, and reconstruction processes.- Traffic Collision Detective: I worked in the West Traffic Division Follow-up Unit to investigate fatal traffic collisions. This included all phases from scene response to direct collection of evidence, to reconstruction and case preparation for criminal filing, to courtroom testimony as collision reconstruction expert.- Worked in the Investigative Support Unit (ISU) of the Force Investigation Division tasked with investigating major uses of force by LAPD officers. Utilized total station and CAD technologies in evidence and scene documentation and diagramming processes. Completed technical presentations for Chief Briefings and Use of Force Boards to clearly outline sequence of events utilizing all available media (video, audio, motion graphics).
